Steels’ Research & Development division has announced the commercial launch of UHSS-1000, a next-generation ultra-high-strength cold-rolled steel developed specifically for automotive body-in-white structural applications.
UHSS-1000 achieves a minimum yield strength of 1,000MPa with a uniform elongation of 14% — a significant advancement over existing dual-phase and martensitic grades that typically sacrifice formability for strength.
The grade has been co-developed with two major European automotive OEMs over a three-year period and is now qualified for B-pillar, side sill, and bumper reinforcement applications. Grade qualification kits and forming data packs are available from our technical sales team.
