Steels has secured a landmark contract to supply 185,000 tonnes of heavy plate steel for the monopile foundations of the Northsea Wind Array, a 2.4GW offshore wind development located 80km off the coast of Denmark.
The steel — predominantly S420ML and S460ML thermomechanically controlled process (TMCP) plates in thicknesses up to 90mm — will be delivered in five annual shipments from 2025 to 2029.
“This contract underlines our position as the supplier of choice for the renewable energy transition,” said COO James Whitfield. “We have invested specifically in the heavy-gauge TMCP capability required for next-generation offshore foundations.”
